Job summary

The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County is seeking an LRT Operator responsible for operating METRORail LRVs in accordance with established policies and safety procedures. The role requires maintaining certifications, safety compliance, and professional interaction with passengers to ensure reliable service.

Responsibilities include operating LRVs, maintaining schedules, handling radio communications, troubleshooting, and completing all required paperwork.

Qualifications

• Must pass safety and training standards and obtain certification as an LRT Operator.
• Must be able to communicate proficiently both verbally and in writing.
• Must know METRORail policies and procedures and the METRORail rulebook.
• Valid Texas Driver's License required.
• Ability to complete written reports, records and forms.

Responsibilities

• Pass safety and training standards and obtain LRT Operator certification.
• Operate LRV's in accordance with METRORail policies, procedures and rulebook.
• Maintains METRORail schedules and running times; operates vehicle in the yard and in/out of the maintenance building.
• Interact with passengers professionally and address concerns.
• Operate radio system per FCC regulations and notify Train Control Center in emergencies.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures using on-board diagnostics.
• Perform LRV safety checks and inspections as required.
• Operate track switches as needed.
• Assist in acceptance and commissioning of new light rail vehicles.
• Complete Vehicle Familiarization and vendor-training courses as required.
• Complete accident/incident reports and related paperwork.
