Job summary

Bi-State Development in Illinois seeks an experienced LRV Operator to operate light rail vehicles in revenue service and in yards, ensuring passenger safety and performing routine inspections for safe operation. Qualifications

• Ability to communicate orally with customers and supervisor.
• Ability to read and understand training materials, operating manuals and safety directives.
• Ability to prepare clear written reports of incidents and accidents.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, prepare for operation and report vehicle defects to ensure safe conditions.
• Operate LRV in revenue service safely following rules and procedures.
• Answer customer inquiries with courteous demeanor and announce stops as required.
• Notify Central Control of emergencies or service disruptions and assist as needed.
• Evacuate passengers safely in emergencies and guide to alternate services.
• Oversee fare handling and monitor farebox equipment if used.
• Maintain knowledge of Bi-State system to provide routine information.
