Job summary

New York Health (NYH) in Manhattan, NY is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Urology to join our organized, patient‑focused team. You will contribute to high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced clinical setting and support a multidisciplinary staff.

Responsibilities include updating the EMR with vital signs, demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies, and diagnoses; managing physician inbox messages; maintaining inventory; preparing exam rooms; escorting patients; and

Qualifications

• Current NYS LPN license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• IV competency required.
• Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with EMRs.
• Reliable transportation to NYH locations for patient care.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up to date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies and medical diagnoses.
• Manage Physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record.
• Assist in maintaining the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff.
• Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments.
• Escort patients to exam rooms.
• Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets.
• Assist physician with exams and/or procedures.
• Prepare and administer Injections.
• Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens.
• Perform point of care lab testing.
• Perform EKGs.
• Administer and document medication under a physician’s order and follows the five (5) medication rights and reduce the potential for medical error.
• Be cross-trained in infusion & intake.
