Job summary

IHA seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse for Trinity Health Ann Arbor's 10E Progressive Care Unit. The unit cares for renal, stroke, and seizure patients with EEG monitoring under an RN's supervision.

Shifts include 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM with full-time and part-time options and every-other-weekend/holiday requirements for eligible staff.

Qualifications

• Inpatient experience required or be enrolled in an LPN to RN program.
• Requires current Michigan LPN license and active BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing interventions delegated by the RN/Physician to support treatment goals and communicates patient changes promptly.
• Gathers clinical data from patient and family as needed.
• Demonstrates competency in medication administration and informs patients about procedures to reduce anxiety.
• Performs clinically delegated tasks such as venipuncture for cultures and IV catheter placement.
• Assists with urinary catheterization as needed.

Position Purpose

The 10E progressive care unit: Medical progressive care unit specializing in the care of diagnoses including: renal, stroke, seizure with continuous EEG monitoring

Shifts Available

Night Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

Status Available: Full time, Part time Every Other Weekend and Every other Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-Time team members.

Required Qualifications

Inpatient experience required or be enrolled in an LPN to RN program).

Education

• Requires a high school diploma

Certification/Licensure

• Requires current and active license to practice as LPN in State of Michigan.
• Must have current or obtain during orientation and maintain Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).

What You Will Do

• Performs specific nursing interventions as delegated by the Registered Nurse and/or Physician to support attainment of treatment goals and uses interdisciplinary plan as the framework for care. Reports changes in patient condition, feedback, and follow-up to the RN in a timely manner.
• Obtains necessary clinical data from patient, family, or significant other.
• Demonstrates competency in the administration of medications. Informs and provides information to patients about planned procedures and treatments in order to reduce fear and anxieties and to encourage patient participation.
• Performs activities which may be delegated by the RN and/or Physician, including but not limited to:
• Venipuncture for specimens including blood cultures.
• Initiates and discontinues intravenous, i.e., peripheral short catheters.
• Inserts and discontinues indwelling and intermittent clean urinary catheterization.
