Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking an LPN for the 10E Progressive Care Unit (PCU Stoke) to support medical progressive care for diagnoses including renal, stroke, and seizures with EEG monitoring. The role requires caring for patients on night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Full-time position with benefits effective Day One; inpatient experience preferred or enrollment in LPN to RN program. Valid MI LPN license and BLS required.

Qualifications

• Inpatient experience required or enrolled in an LPN to RN program.
• Requires high school diploma.
• Current and active LPN license in Michigan; BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing interventions as delegated by RN/Physician to meet treatment goals.
• Reports changes in patient condition to the RN promptly.
• Obtains clinical data from patient/family.
• Administers medications and educates patients about procedures to reduce fear.
• Performs delegated tasks such as venipuncture and IV access.
• Inserts/discontinues urinary catheters as needed.

Position Purpose: The 10E progressive care unit: Medical progressive care unit specializing in the care of diagnoses including: renal, stroke, seizure with continuous EEG monitoring

Shifts Available: Night Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

Status Available: Full time, Part time Every Other Weekend and Every other Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-Time team members.

Required Qualifications:

Inpatient experience required or be enrolled in an LPN to RN program).

Education:

• Requires a high school diploma

Certification/Licensure:

• Requires current and active license to practice as LPN in State of Michigan.
• Must have current or obtain during orientation and maintain Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).

What you will do:

• Performs specific nursing interventions as delegated by the Registered Nurse and/or Physician to support attainment of treatment goals and uses interdisciplinary plan as the framework for care. Reports changes in patient condition, feedback, and follow-up to the RN in a timely manner.
• Obtains necessary clinical data from patient, family, or significant other.
• Demonstrates competency in the administration of medications. Informs and provides information to patients about planned procedures and treatments in order to reduce fear and anxieties and to encourage patient participation.
• Performs activities which may be delegated by the RN and/or Physician, including but not limited to:
• Venipuncture for specimens including blood cultures.
• Initiates and discontinues intravenous, i.e., peripheral short catheters.
• Inserts and discontinues indwelling and intermittent clean urinary catheterization.
