Job summary

Mercy Hospital South is hiring an LPN for the Medical/Surgical unit on the day shift (7:00am–7:00pm). The role requires graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program and MO license; a $2,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Duties include delivering nursing care under supervision and coordinating patient care with other departments while protecting patient rights and confidentiality. Additional certifications may be required within timeframes set by the department.

Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.

One or more of the following certifications may be required based on the position, unit assignment, or must be obtained within the department’s specified timeframe:

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
• S.T.A.B.L.E. Program (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, and Emotional Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) through the American Heart Association (required within 30 days of hire)
• LPN-IV Certification (Missouri only) – must be completed prior to hire or within 3 months of hire
• Additional unit-specific certifications as required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout each shift
• Ability to perform essential physical functions, including gripping, reaching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting to carry out job responsibilities
