Bayley Life is seeking a LPN/RN charge nurse to lead a unit, ensure high-quality resident care, and maintain compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations.

You will supervise staff, coordinate admissions, assessments, and care plans, and provide on-going leadership to promote a positive team environment in a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

  • LPN or RN curriculum completed from an accredited program.
  • Current LPN or RN license valid for Ohio.
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal and Ohio regulations governing long-term care.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities.
  • 2 years of long-term care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead unit morale and team-based work environment; supervise STNA assignments.
  • Address personnel issues: discipline, evaluations, retention, development.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Maintain rapport with inter-departmental staff and cross-functional teams.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings to identify and correct service issues.
  • Provide training and skills assessment for nursing staff; ensure resident rights compliance.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Participate in needs assessments and care plan development.
  • Conduct daily resident visits to assess status and needs.
  • Complete medical forms, evaluations, and incident reports promptly.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by physicians or supervisor.
  • Maintain procedures for medication and supply handling.
  • Consult with supervisor/physician on planning and treatment; notify changes.
  • Stay current with regulations via professional publications and seminars.

Description

The LPN or RN generally assumes a charge nurse role which is key in providing a productive work environment, quality resident care, and front-line leadership. Reporting to the nursing supervisor, the charge nurse maintains unit morale and ensures daily compliance of Federal, State, and local regulations.

Unit Leadership

1. Responsible for the unit morale by providing a team based work environment through effective team leadership and a demonstrated positive attitude, including STNA assignment and supervision.

2. Assumes a lead role in employee related issues such as discipline, performance evaluations, retention, and development of qualified personnel.

3. Works with the Nursing supervisor to ensure compliance of Federal, State, and local regulations that govern the long-term care industry.

4. Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-departmental and cross-functional personnel.

5. Facilitates unit communications by conducting regular meetings with staff personnel designed to identify and correct problem areas and/or the improvement of services.

6. Responsible for the training and skills assessment of assigned nursing personnel. Ensures all unit members are knowledgeable and compliant with resident’s rights and responsibilities.

Nursing Duties

1. Assists with the admission, transfer, and discharge residents.

2. Participates in preliminary resident needs assessments and in the development of a written plan of care.

3. Performs daily resident visits to assess and evaluate resident status changes and nursing needs.

4. Completes medical forms, evaluations, and accident/incident reports in a timely manner.

5. Administers medications and performs treatments as directed by the attending physician or nursing supervisor.

6. Accountable for the proper maintenance of written procedures outlining the administration, storage, and control of medications and medical supplies.

7. Consults the nursing supervisor and/or attending physician in the planning, treatment, and rehabilitation of assigned residents. Ensures proper notification of appropriate personnel when a change in the resident’s condition occurs.

8. Remains current of applicable regulations and procedures by professional publications and attending applicable seminars.

Requirements
  • Successful completion of LPN or RN curriculum from an accredited LPN or RN program
  • Possess a current LPN or RN Ohio license
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Federal regulations and Ohio State regulations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • 2 years of experience in a long-term care environment preferred
