The RN/LPN generally assumes a charge nurse role, which is key in providing a productive work environment, quality resident care, and front-line leadership. Reporting to the nursing supervisor, the charge nurse maintains unit morale and ensures daily compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations.

• Responsible for maintaining unit morale by providing a team-based work environment through effective team leadership and a positive attitude, including STNA assignment and supervision.
• Assumes a lead role in employee-related issues such as discipline, performance evaluations, retention, and development of qualified personnel.

Works with the Nursing supervisor to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations governing the long-term care industry.

• Develops and maintains good rapport with inter-departmental and cross-functional personnel.
• Facilitates unit communication through regular staff meetings to identify and resolve issues and improve services.
• Responsible for training and assessing the skills of nursing personnel, ensuring all unit members are knowledgeable and compliant with residents' rights and responsibilities.

RN/LPN Job Duties

1. Assists with resident admission, transfer, and discharge.
2. Participates in preliminary resident needs assessments and in developing written care plans.
3. Performs daily resident visits to assess and evaluate changes in resident status and nursing needs.
4. Completes medical forms, evaluations, and incident reports promptly.
5. Administers medications and treatments as directed by the physician or nursing supervisor.
6. Maintains proper procedures for medication and medical supplies management.
7. Consults with the nursing supervisor and/or physician on planning, treatment, and rehabilitation, notifying appropriate personnel of any resident condition changes.
8. Stays current with regulations and procedures through professional publications and seminars.
