Job summary

MercyOne Waterloo is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) or LPN for the Transitional Care Team in Waterloo, IA. This 40-hour, day-shift, Monday–Friday role focuses on chart preparation, referral coordination, and administrative support for patients in nursing home settings.

Ideal candidates have completed an accredited MA or LPN program, with MA certification or LPN licensure in IA. Prior long-term care experience and EPIC proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• MA Certification/Registration preferred prior to hire and required within one year.
• Or must have completed an accredited LPN program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare charts, coordinate referrals, manage faxes and inbox, and provide administrative support for patients in nursing home settings.
• Assist physicians and clinicians with patient prep, vital signs, documentation, and basic clinical procedures.
• Coordinate patient flow, maintain accurate medical records, and help ensure a positive patient experience.

Description:

Position: Medical Assistant (MA) or LPN: Transitional Care Team Home

Location: Waterloo, IA

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Day shift, M-F

This position supports MercyOne Waterloo's Transitional Care team and is primarily an office-based role responsible for chart preparation, referral coordination, fax and inbox management, and administrative support for patients receiving care in nursing home settings. Prior long-term care experience is preferred, and occasional visits to nursing home facilities may be required.

Supports the operation of the clinical practice by performing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks. This position is responsible for assisting physicians and other healthcare providers in delivering patient care through patient preparation, vital sign collection, documentation, and basic clinical procedures. The Medical Assistant also coordinates patient flow, maintaining accurate medical records, and ensuring a positive patient experience.

Required

• Must have successfully completed accredited Medical Assistant program.


• MA Certification/Registration preferred prior to hire and required within one year.

• Must have successfully completed accredited LPN program.


• LPN License in the state of Iowa.

Preferences

• Prefers at least 2 years experience with Clinic and EPIC experience.
