Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking an LPN/CMA for its Urgent Care team in Baxter, MN. You will provide direct patient care in ambulatory settings, support physicians during exams, administer medications, and help coordinate follow-up care and referrals. This casual position involves shift work and potential remote/hybrid options.

You’ll work alongside RNs, physicians, and other providers to ensure safe, efficient patient care while maintaining infection control and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Must hold BCLS certification or obtain within 3 months.
• Current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, with certification within one year of hire (must pass certification within two attempts)
• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the relevant state

Responsibilities

• Measure vital signs, record patient histories, and observe symptoms to assist in diagnosing and monitoring patient health.
• Assist physicians during examinations and minor procedures by preparing equipment, assisting with patient positioning, and ensuring infection control.
• Administer prescribed medications, including injections and oral drugs, and monitor patients for adverse reactions, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Coordinate care with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans and assist in follow-up appointments and referrals.
• Conduct initial patient intake processes, including gathering medical histories, updating personal information, and preparing patients for examination or diagnostic testing
