Job summary

Essentia Health in Baxter, MN is seeking an LPN/CMA to join the Pediatric Team in an ambulatory care setting. The role supports RNs and physicians, providing direct patient care and assisting with examinations and procedures.

Responsibilities include vital signs, medication administration, and coordinating care plans. FTE 0.8 with a day shift from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, occasional hybrid/remote option, and no weekend work.

Qualifications

• BCLS certified, or able to obtain within 3 months.
• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Minnesota.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program with certification within one year of hire (two attempts max).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine patient assessments (vital signs, histories) and monitor health.
• Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures, maintain infection control.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor for adverse reactions with proper documentation.
• Coordinate care with physicians and other staff to plan follow-up appointments and referrals.
• Conduct initial patient intake and prepare patients for examination or testing.

Job Description:

Education Qualifications:

This LPN/CMA will support our Pediatric Team (RNs, Physicians, and other providers). You will provide direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Patient Care and Monitoring: Perform routine assessments such as measuring vital signs, recording patient histories, and observing symptoms to assist in diagnosing and monitoring patient health.
• Assisting with Procedures: Support physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures by preparing equipment, assisting with patient positioning, and ensuring proper infection control.
• Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications, including injections and oral drugs, and monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Coordination of Care: Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans, and assist in coordinating follow-up appointments and referrals.
• Patient Intake and Preparation: Conduct initial patient intake processes, including gathering medical histories, updating personal information, and preparing patients for examination or diagnostic testing.

This position will work the following:

• 32 hours/week
• No Weekends
• 8 Hour Shifts
• Day Shift: 7:30AM - 5:0PM

Licensure/CertificationQualifications:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified, or able to obtain within 3 months.
