Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a licensed practical nurse to join the Women’s Services OB/GYN team in a day shift role. You will assess patient health status, administer medications, perform venipuncture, EKGs, and vaccinations, and support care plan implementation under the guidance of an RN and Provider.

Required: active MA LPN license, BLS, and completion of an accredited LPN program. This non-exempt position offers a schedule Monday–Friday with day shifts, and opportunities for a signing

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Current Massachusetts licensure required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and obtains a patient’s basic health status, records, and related data.
  • Administers medications, performs treatments as ordered, and operates equipment per policy.
  • Performs venipuncture using aseptic technique, 12-lead EKGs, and administers vaccinations.
  • Participates in implementation and evaluation of care plans including goals and teaching.
  • Documents patient care and reports observations to Provider or RN and assists in data interpretation.

Position Qualifications:License/Certification/Education:Required:1. Completion of an accredited practical nursing program .2. Current Massachusetts licensure required .3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Experience/Skills:Required:1. Knowledge of basic nursing procedures .2. Strong interpersonal skills are required to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.Unless certification, licensure or registration is required , an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments .
