Job summary

Alden seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) supervisor to provide direct nursing care and to supervise day-to-day nursing activities by nursing assistants. The goal is to maintain the highest quality of care in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and facility policies.

The role emphasizes leadership, coordination of care, and staff guidance to ensure patients receive comprehensive, respectful, and compliant care on a dedicated unit.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current, unencumbered LPN license in Illinois and/or Wisconsin.
• Must possess CPR certificate or obtain within two weeks of employment.
• Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures.
• Interest/knowledge in care of the aged.
• Must read, write, and speak English clearly.
• Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Ability to interact tactfully with customers, families, visitors, staff, and agencies.
• Leadership and supervisory ability; ability to work harmoniously with others.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise nursing staff and oversee daily nursing activities.
• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct patient care for the unit.
• Ensure nursing procedures follow established policies and dress code.
• Develop written care plans for customers and monitor progress.
• Attend care plan conferences and report concerns to administration.
• Record nursing notes and ensure accurate documentation of care.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
• Perform admissions, discharges, and transfers and coordinate with dietary and other departments.
• Provide staff orientation and participate in staff meetings.
• Maintain warm, supportive environment and quality patient care.
