Job Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care to individuals across the lifespan in the Medical-Surgical Unit and Emergency Department under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), physician, physician assistant, or advanced practice provider and in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and standards of nursing practice. The LPN contributes to patient assessment, implements nursing interventions, administers medications and treatments within scope of practice, monitors patient response, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote safe, effective, and patient-centered care. The LPN performs duties for which competency has been validated and maintains accountability for professional nursing practice.
