Job summary

Mediko is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to deliver direct patient care in a correctional setting, administer medications, monitor conditions, and document care.

Qualifications

• Current, valid state licensure in applicable role (LPN/LVN).
• High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of healthcare experience preferred, especially in correctional or regulated settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including assessments, monitoring vital signs, and administering prescribed treatments and medications as directed by the physician.
• Conduct initial medical screenings upon entry and provide ongoing care.
• Assist with sick call assessments and referrals as needed.
• Respond to medical emergencies with first aid and emergency care.
• Monitor and document patient progress; suggest treatment modifications as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with policies and regulations.
• Ensure compliance of treatments with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Administer medications and document reactions; proper handling and storage.
• Coordinate with physicians, healthcare providers, and correctional staff for effective care.
• Communicate with patients, staff, and external providers to ensure continuity of care.
• Educate patients and staff on health topics; disease prevention and medication management.
• Keep medical unit stocked and organized; report equipment issues.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
