Job summary

UAB St. Vincent's East is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the CVICU Stepdown team for full-time weekend night shifts.

You will provide patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician, administer medications, and monitor patient responses in a fast-paced critical care setting. Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing program with Alabama LPN licensure is required, along with BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure required in Alabama.
• BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer date.
• Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing program required.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within scope of license.
• Contribute to assessment of patients and assure patient well-being.
• Administer medications and observe for adverse reactions.
• Perform laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, self-care post discharge, and available resources.

• Schedule: Full-Time Weekend Nights, Saturday & Sunday, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am
• Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's East

What You Will Do

• Provide care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within scope of license.
• Contribute to the assessment of patients and assure the well-being of patients.
• Administer medications and observe patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
• Perform laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
• Educate patients/families about disease treatment plan including self care post discharge, holistic health needs, available resources and follow up care.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted

Education:

Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing program or equivalent required.
