Job summary

UAB St. Vincent's East CVICU seeks an Experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide direct post-operative cardiac care on an 8-bed unit. You will monitor, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and support complex cardiovascular procedures in a setting that promotes professional growth and high-quality patient care.

Candidates must hold an Alabama RN license, a nursing diploma, BLS, and be prepared to obtain ACLS within 6 months. Work location is UAB St.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with AL RN license and Diploma in Nursing.
• BLS certification required; ACLS within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in line with unit policies and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; document patient condition and progress.
• Coordinate care across disciplines for comprehensive patient management.
• Perform orders from physicians and nursing staff; ensure safe discharge planning.

Schedule: Multiple Shifts: Full-Time Days, 3 12-Hour Shifts, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

EXPERIENCED REGISTERED NURSES (RN'S) ONLY

The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at UAB St. Vincent's East is an 8-bed unit specializing in post-operative care for patients recovering from coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and other complex cardiovascular surgeries. You will have an opportunity to work with advanced cardiac support devices and procedures like hemodynamic monitoring, providing a setting where staff can grow and thrive while delivering high quality care.

What You Will Do

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

What You Will Need

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire.
• No additional preferences.
