Job summary

UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham is seeking an experienced registered nurse to join the Med Surg Stepdown - 4 South unit.

The position offers full-time day, night, weekend, and WIN shift options and provides opportunities to develop nursing skills in a supportive, teaching-focused setting. Responsibilities include direct nursing care, implementing care plans, coordinating multidisciplinary team activities, executing orders, and assisting with discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions for

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Schedule

• Full-Time Days, 3 12-Hour Shifts, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
• Full-Time Nights, 3 12-Hour Shifts, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am
• Full-Time Weekend Days, 2 12-Hour Shifts, Saturday & Sunday, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
• Full-Time WIN Days, 3 12-Hour Shifts, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday OR Friday, Saturday, & any other weekday, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

4 South is a 30-bed medical and surgical stepdown unit at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham that cares for a wide range of patients and offers a dynamic environment for learning and developing your nursing skills. It's an ideal unit for nurses who are not ready for the intensity of an ICU but are seeking to advance their skills. We foster skill development and clinical expertise in a supportive, teaching-focused setting.

Licensure / Certification / Registration

Education
