UAB Medicine's Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham seeks an experienced RN to provide direct patient care on a busy 8-bed unit serving patients recovering from cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries. This role emphasizes telemetry monitoring and collaborative care in a supportive team.

The position offers Full-Time and Part-Time shifts across nights and days with opportunities to develop cardiovascular expertise in a renowned health system.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date or transfer date.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Implements and monitors patient care plans.
• Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.

Th e Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham is an 8-bed stepdown unit provid ing care for patients recovering from cardiac , thoracic, and vascular surgeries as well as heart catheterization procedures. We provide certain care techniques like telemetry monitoring and advanced post-operative management. This unit ser ves as a transitional step between CVICU and other acute care units, offering nurses a unique opportunity to develop their nursing skills and cardiovascular expertise .

Job Description

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the
healthcare organization.

• Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare
  team.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
