Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham area seeks a licensed practical nurse (LPN) for a full-time day shift. You will provide patient care under supervision, administer medications, perform basic lab tests, and educate patients and families on treatment plans and follow-up care.

Requirements include current Alabama LPN licensure or eligibility and BLS within 30 days. UAB Medicine offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities within a leading academic health system.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Alabama required or eligible.
• BLS certification obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within scope of license.
• Contribute to the assessment of patients and assure the well-being of patients.
• Administer medications and observe patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
• Perform laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
• Educate patients/families about disease treatment plan including self care post discharge, holistic health needs, available resources and follow up care.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing program or equivalent required.
