Job summary

ScionHealth in United States is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, addressing psychosocial and cultural considerations, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting medication administration with adherence to the six rights and safety protocols. BLS certification preferred; IV therapy and ACLS may be required in certain areas.

• Must be flexible, able to work as needed for appropriate departmental coverage.
• Basic computer knowledge; become proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates proficient time management skills.
• Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
• Additional languages preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interacts professionally with patients/families; treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
• Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
• Effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers, providing excellent customer service.
• Provides direct patient care under RN supervision and adjusts nursing care processes as needed to ensure optimal patient care.
• Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
• Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
• Maintains accurate and continued documentation for all assessments, treatments, and evaluations.
• Documentation meets current standards and policies.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and provides age-appropriate care.
• Interprets data to identify age-specific needs and plans care accordingly.
• Applies sterile techniques and infection control procedures.
• Follows medication rights and reduces potential errors.
• Maintains knowledge of medications and IV fluids and their correct administration.
• Collaborates with other providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Coordinates patient services with referring physician/facility.
