Job summary

The State of Connecticut Department of Correction seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse for an on-site, 35-hour-per-week role in Enfield, CT. You will manage daily sick calls, coordinate specialty service schedules, assist with treatments, and support providers across units and clinics.

Responsibilities include medication management, documentation, and liaison with nursing staff and providers to ensure holistic patient care. Requires CT LPN license and patient-care experience.

Qualifications

• License or temporary permit to practice nursing in Connecticut.
• Experience solving problems in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience organizing stock, tracking expiration dates, and ensuring readiness.
• Experience administering medications, including DOT/KOP, first-dose administration, and reconciliation.

Responsibilities

• Assists doctors and nurses in the general care and treatment of individuals.
• Measures doses and administers medications including insulin injections.
• Documents medications using appropriate forms.
• Performs narcotic counts.
• Tracks and may administer intravenous medications.
• Reports changes in individuals to doctors.
• Transcribes doctors medication orders and dispenses meds in absence of provider.
• Assists with treatments or minor procedures and clinical readiness.
• Communicates with nursing and medical staff to support patient care.
