HAN Staff is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Deming, NM to deliver direct patient care in a correctional setting, under RN or physician supervision. The role offers local contract or per diem options with night shifts and competitive pay.

The candidate must hold an active LPN license, have 1+ year of correctional experience, and possess BLS certification. English proficiency is required for effective communication with patients and staff.

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ full-time LPN experience in a correctional setting.
• BLS through American Heart Association or equivalent.
• Experience in ER, Psychiatric, MS or Clinic.
• Proficiency in English for communication with staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under supervision of RN or physician.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor and record vital signs; report changes.
• Assist with patient assessments and care plans.
• Document care in EMR accurately.
• Educate patients and families on health maintenance and treatment plans.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Maintain safe, clean, therapeutic environment.
• Follow facility policies, infection control, and regulatory standards.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician.

• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.

• Monitor and record patients' vital signs and report changes in condition.

• Assist with patient assessments and implement individualized care plans.

• Perform wound care, specimen collection, and other basic nursing procedures.

• Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).

• Educate patients and families on health maintenance and treatment plans.

• Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients.

• Follow facility policies, infection control protocols, and regulatory standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited educational institution

• A degree from an accredited school of Nursing

• An active, current LPN license in applicable state or reciprocation

• 1+ years’ full-time LPN experience in a correctional setting

• BLS through American Heart Association or equivalent

• Experience in ER, Psychiatric, MS or Clinic

• Proficiency in the English language is necessary for communication with other staff and patients.
