Job summary

Unitek Learning is seeking a Full Time LPN Clinical/Skills Lab Faculty to join our Workforce Development Partner Trinity Health in Muskegon, MI. The role provides Skills Lab/Clinical education for nursing students with a minimum of 40 hours per week at the institution, reporting to the Assistant Dean.

Responsibilities include supervising clinical experiences, evaluating student performance, maintaining records, and coordinating with health facilities to meet instructional needs.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid, unencumbered license issued by the State Board of Registered Nursing.
• Eligible for approval by the State Board of Registered Nursing as Instructor for Medical-Surgical, OB, Pediatrics, Mental Health, Community Health, or Geriatrics.
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university that includes course work in nursing, education, or administration, and academic preparation for the subject they teach, or Completed BSN and currently enrolled, or will enroll in an MSN program may be considered
• Minimum four-years’ experience, with one year in the last five years, as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.
• One-year experience teaching courses related to nursing or completion of a course which includes practice in teaching nursing preferred; and
• Expertise in one of the following areas of nursing – Mental Health, Medical-Surgical, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, L&D, Community Health, and/or Critical Care

Responsibilities

• Provide Skills Lab and/or Clinical site education to students in Workforce Development Program.
• Hours vary based on clinical rotation and/or skills lab course; may include days, evenings, weekends.
• Plan and supervise student clinical experience in assigned health care facilities.
• Evaluate student performance in relation to clinical learning outcomes.
• Provide timely feedback on clinical performance or events.
• Maintain student records and attendance, check-off forms, and programmatic data.
• Ensure clinical assignments meet student and facility needs.
• Observe, instruct, and evaluate students using best methods.
• Engage in improving quality of instruction and use of online activities as needed.
• Submit program reports to the Academic Site Director on time.
• Stay current with innovative technologies and safety regulations.
• Participate in nursing program committee activities and attend faculty meetings.
• Provide access to students for ongoing communication via office hours and electronic contact.
• Other duties as assigned.
