Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center is seeking an LPN to support the School Health Program at Gompers HS in the Bronx. The role focuses on preventive care, chronic disease management, and urgent clinical needs for a pediatric and adolescent student population.

You will work under RNs, administer medications, perform selected diagnostics, and educate students and families while adhering to safety and infection-control policies. The AWS schedule offers six weeks off in summer and prorated compensation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current New York State LPN License & Registration.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification clearly required.
• Infection Control Certificate.
• Effective written and spoken English.
• Data entry and computer skills.
• Must complete fingerprinting for DOE and Justice Center Security Clearance.
• OHS Annual Assessment & Fit Test required.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care for pediatric and adolescent students.
• Administer medications, treatments and select diagnostic tests within LPN scope.
• Provide student and family education and discharge instructions.
• Maintain safety and infection control; document care in the EHR.
• Collaborate with RNs and school staff to manage patient care and daily workflow.

This position operates from September through June while school is in session, with prorated compensation to match the academic calendar.Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department.
