Job summary

The Ohio Department of Veterans Services' Veterans Homes in Sandusky is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse for 2nd and 3rd shifts. This full-time role offers shift differentials, overtime opportunities, tuition reimbursement up to $5,000, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities include medication administration, resident monitoring, care planning, and collaboration with a clinical team. Starting pay is $30.10/hr with raises and bonuses over time.

Qualifications

• License to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723 Ohio Revised Code & proof of completion of an approved course in medication administration.
• Licensed Practical Nurses who administer dialysis treatment must possess Certification in IV Therapy pursuant to Section 4723.17 Ohio Revised Code

Responsibilities

• Completion of physician orders; assist with exams, treatments & collect specimens as needed; administer medication including controlled substances
• Observes & documents residents’ condition in Point-Click-Care system, reports to medical team
• Create other necessary reports (e.g., progress notes, care plans, monthly summaries)
• Provides general nursing and direct care to residents such as assisting with activities of daily living, vital signs, assisting with ambulation, range of motion, etc.
• May escort and support residents at medical appointments or recreational activities
• Assists with redirecting unsafe actions to bring about positive outcomes
• Applies safety & infection control measures
• Provide assistance (e.g., work direction, training, etc.) to Therapeutic Program Workers (STNA) as assigned
• Attend team meetings, trainings, etc.
• All other duties as assigned
