Job summary

Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Louisiana is seeking a licensed Practical Nurse to support cardiovascular physicians and staff. You will perform triage, documentation, injections, and coordination of care, maintaining patient records in EMR and paper systems.

You will respond to patient needs in clinic and by phone, assist with procedures, and support risk management through accurate vital signs and medication documentation.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Louisiana LPN license.
• BLS certification required; ACLS is a plus.
• Experience with EMR systems and patient communication.
• Experience in triage, injections, blood draws and assisting in diagnostic testing.

About The Role

• Provide licensed professional nursing care to support cardiovascular physicians and other medical staff.
• Perform triage, documentation, injections, diagnostic support, and coordination of care.
• Maintain and update patient records in paper and/or electronic medical systems.
• Respond to patient needs both in‑clinic and by phone, assisting with procedures and patient education.

• Accurately document vital signs, medications, allergies, and patient concerns to support quality care and risk management.
• Support physicians during patient visits and follow through on orders including tests, injections, and patient instructions.
• Collaborate with departments through EMR communications to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Assist with Coumadin clinics, blood draws, pacemaker/defibrillator checks, and diagnostic procedure explanations.
• Manage medical forms, insurance pre‑certifications, supply ordering, and mandated safety checks.
• Provide cross‑coverage and support to other clinics or departments as needed.

What Makes You a Great Match

• High school diploma and current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Louisiana.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS); ACLS certification is a plus.
• Skilled in clinical documentation, EMR systems, and patient communication.
• Experienced in triage, blood draws, injections, and assisting in diagnostic testing.
