Job summary

Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Louisiana seeks a licensed practical nurse to support cardiovascular physicians and staff. You will triage, document, administer injections, assist with diagnostic testing, and coordinate care, ensuring accurate records and patient safety.

You will communicate with patients by clinic and phone, provide education, and collaborate with teams via EMR to maintain smooth patient flow and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and current LPN license in Louisiana are required.
• BLS certification is required; ACLS certification is a plus.
• Skilled in clinical documentation, EMR systems, and patient communication.
• Experienced in triage, blood draws, injections, and assisting in diagnostic testing.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask and maintain clinical protocols.
• Willingness to adapt, support team needs, and align with CIS patient-centered philosophy.

About the Role

• Provide licensed professional nursing care to support cardiovascular physicians and other medical staff.
• Perform triage, documentation, injections, diagnostic support, and coordination of care.
• Maintain and update patient records in paper and/or electronic medical systems.
• Respond to patient needs both in-clinic and by phone, assisting with procedures and patient education.

• Accurately document vital signs, medications, allergies, and patient concerns to support quality care and risk management.
• Support physicians during patient visits and follow through on orders including tests, injections, and patient instructions.
• Collaborate with departments through EMR communications to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Assist with Coumadin clinics, blood draws, pacemaker/defibrillator checks, and diagnostic procedure explanations.
• Manage medical forms, insurance pre-certifications, supply ordering, and mandated safety checks.
• Provide cross-coverage and support to other clinics or departments as needed.

What Makes You a Great Match

• High school diploma and current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Louisiana.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS); ACLS certification is a plus.
• Skilled in clinical documentation, EMR systems, and patient communication.
