Job summary

Cardiovascular Institute of the South is seeking an experienced LPN to support our cardiovascular physicians and team. You will provide licensed nursing care, triage, document, administer injections, and coordinate care for patients both in-clinic and by phone.

You will maintain accurate patient records in EMR and paper systems, respond to patient needs, and educate patients on procedures and care plans while collaborating with multiple departments.

Qualifications

• Licensed practical nurse in Louisiana with current license.
• BSL certification; ACLS a plus.
• Experience with clinical documentation and EMR systems.
• Strong patient communication and triage skills.

About The Role

• Provide licensed professional nursing care to support cardiovascular physicians and other medical staff.
• Perform triage, documentation, injections, diagnostic support, and coordination of care.
• Maintain and update patient records in paper and/or electronic medical systems.
• Respond to patient needs both in-clinic and by phone, assisting with procedures and patient education.

How You’ll Drive Our Mission Forward

• Accurately document vital signs, medications, allergies, and patient concerns to support quality care and risk management.
• Support physicians during patient visits and follow through on orders including tests, injections, and patient instructions.
• Collaborate with departments through EMR communications to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Assist with Coumadin clinics, blood draws, pacemaker/defibrillator checks, and diagnostic procedure explanations.
• Manage medical forms, insurance pre-certifications, supply ordering, and mandated safety checks.
• Provide cross-coverage and support to other clinics or departments as needed.

What Makes You a Great Match

• High school diploma and current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Louisiana.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS); ACLS certification is a plus.
• Skilled in clinical documentation, EMR systems, and patient communication.
• Experienced in triage, blood draws, injections, and assisting in diagnostic testing.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and maintain compliance with clinical protocols.
