The teacher plays an integral role in the instructional program by working with students and providing high-quality instruction that meets the needs of each child. Expected Credentials
- It is expected that leave replacement teachers will have at least a Bachelor's Degree. A Master's Degree in an appropriate instructional area (i.e., special education, literacy) is preferred.
- A teaching certification is NOT required for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide instruction to students enrolled in classes, including activities and study hall.
- Teachers are responsible for teaching six classes (typically five academic and one non-academic) in addition to eating lunch with an assigned table of children Monday-Thursday.
- Complete on-going informal diagnostic assessments, and using this information, collaborate with Educational Advisors to help determine appropriate academic and affective goals for students
- Plan daily lessons that reflect the 'best practices' in the field of education of children with learning disabilities and that provide remedial instruction using a hands-on multisensory approach
- Help students to develop problem-solving, appropriate risk-taking, social, and self-regulation skills
- Participate in meetings to assess student progress and set goals with the child’s entire educational team
- Participate in PPT and CSE meetings as requested
- Communicate student performance by completing academic progress reports and participate in Parent Conferencing
- Interact with parents about student academic progress, social growth, and learning needs at designated times of the year, and meetings with parents as necessary
- Complete varied forms as needed
- Prioritize job expectations effectively by managing professional time and setting professional goals.
- Participate in professional development provided by the school and seek additional professional opportunities related to instructional practice (i.e., courses, conferences, presentations).
- Collaborate with the Team to develop professional learning goals.
- Perform assigned daily duties (i.e., recess, dismissal, etc.)
- Assume additional responsibilities assigned including attendance at school or other educational events.
- Punctually complete all assigned paperwork and respond to requests for information
- Demonstrate an alignment with Eagle Hill's Mission and Core Values.
