Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required (Education, Child Development, or related field preferred).
• Experience with elementary-age children (classroom, camp, tutoring, or childcare).
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Comfort working in a multicultural, multilingual educational environment.
• Ability to pass a background check and provide required clearances.
• Reliability and flexibility to accept assignments on short notice.
• Preferred: Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Mandarin; IB/PYP experience.

About ISI

The International School of Indiana (ISI) is an IB World School serving students ages 3 through grade 12 on its 60-acre Michigan Road campus. In the Lower School, students engage in the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) while immersed in Spanish, French, or Mandarin Chinese language instruction taught by native-speaking faculty. Position Summary

ISI is seeking enthusiastic, reliable Lower School Substitute Teachers to support classrooms (Age 3–Grade 5) on an as-needed, day-to-day basis. Substitutes step in to maintain continuity of instruction, implement lesson plans left by classroom or language-immersion teachers, and ensure a safe, engaging, and culturally responsive learning environment in the teacher's absence.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons and activities in alignment with the IB Primary Years Programme
• Supervise and support students during classroom instruction, transitions, recess, and lunch

Schedule

Substitute teachers are called on an as-needed basis during the school year (approximately August–June), with assignments ranging from single days to longer-term coverage.
