Job summary

International School of Indiana, Inc. invites qualified substitutes for Lower School coverage (ages 3–Grade 5) on a day-to-day basis. You will implement lesson plans, supervise students, and maintain a safe, engaging environment in a multilingual IB setting. Strong communication and reliability are essential, with background checks required.

Assignments range from single days to longer-term coverage during the school year (Aug–June). Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Mandarin is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required (Education, Child Development, or related field preferred).
• Experience with elementary-age children (classroom, camp, tutoring, or childcare).
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Comfort working in a multicultural, multilingual educational environment.
• Ability to pass a background check and provide required clearances.
• Reliability and flexibility to accept assignments on short notice.
• Preferred: Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Mandarin; IB/PYP experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme.
• Supervise and support students during instruction, transitions, recess, and lunch.
• Maintain classroom routines, structure, and behavior management.
• Communicate with lead teachers, staff, and administration regarding daily progress or concerns.
• Support students learning in a language-immersion setting.
• Ensure student safety and well-being.
• Leave detailed notes for the returning classroom teacher.
