Job summary

Methuen Public School District is seeking a Program Assistant for the Lower School Pathways Sub Separate openings. This role supports students with autism in a self-contained classroom and assists with academics under the guidance of the special education teacher.

Responsibilities include implementing lesson plans, helping with behavior management, and supporting students during arrival, dismissal, and inclusion into general education classes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required with associates degree or higher preferred
• Experience working with young children
• Experience assisting in program implementation
• Ability to work with professional staff
• Outstanding preparation and/or experience may be substituted for some of the above qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support students with autism/characteristics of autism in a lower school self-contained classroom
• Assist with academics by implementing lesson plans/programming developed by the special education teacher
• Assist with behavior management and execution of behavior plans
• Support with self help skills, toileting, social skills and inclusion throughout the school environment
• Assist with arrival/dismissal and inclusion into general education classes
