Job summary

Actalent is seeking a hands-on Low Voltage Technician to install, test, and service low voltage systems across commercial, industrial, healthcare, and education facilities in the Greater Milwaukee area.

Ideal candidates have 1+ years of experience with structured cabling, can read drawings, and operate hand/power tools and testing equipment. This is a contract-to-hire onsite role based out of Brookfield, WI.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of low voltage installation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of structured cabling standards and installation practices.
• Ability to read construction drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and cable testing equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, label, and test low voltage cabling including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic, and coaxial cable.
• Install and service structured cabling systems in commercial and industrial facilities.
• Mount and connect equipment including racks, patch panels, cable trays, and network hardware.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and construction documents.
• Perform moves, adds, and changes (MAC work) for existing systems.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of Access Control, CCTV, Intrusion, A/V, DAS, and data networks.

Low Voltage Technician

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Low Voltage Technician to join their growing team in the Greater Milwaukee area. This position is responsible for the installation, termination, testing, troubleshooting, and servicing of low voltage systems in commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and mixed-use facilities. The ideal candidate enjoys hands‑on work, has experience with structured cabling and low voltage systems, and is eager to develop technical skills in a fast‑paced construction and technology environment.

Installation & Service

• Install, terminate, label, and test low voltage cabling including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic, and coaxial cable.
• Install and service structured cabling systems in commercial and industrial facilities.
• Mount and connect equipment including racks, patch panels, cable trays, and network hardware.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and construction documents.
• Perform moves, adds, and changes (MAC work) for existing systems.

System Support

• Assist with installation and commissioning of: Access Control Systems
• CCTV / Video Surveillance Systems
• Intrusion Detection Systems
• Audio/Visual Systems
• Telecommunications Infrastructure
• Data Networks
• Nurse Call Systems
• Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)
• Troubleshoot cabling and system connectivity issues.
• Conduct testing and certification of copper and fiber cabling systems.

Required

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of BROOKFIELD, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
