Qualifications

• OSHA 10 certification required.
• Experience pulling copper cables (Cat5/6).
• 2+ years experience in pulling fiber and cable termination.
• 2+ years experience with Versiv/Fluke testers.
• 2+ years experience in IDF uplinks and patching.
• Experience terminating keystone jacks and modular plugs (RJ45).

Responsibilities

• Install outlets by terminating CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks.
• Mount face plates and surface mount boxes.
• Install and organize racks, patch panels, and fiber hardware.
• Install grounding for racks, equipment and cables.
• Terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels (IDC).
• Test continuity on cables using meters.
• Identify active voice/data circuits.
• Lead crew training and coordinate timelines.
• Adhere to safety standards and regulations.

Low Voltage Technician

Job Description

We are seeking an Entry Level Tech 1 for a promising opportunity to become part of a multi-year project. This role is ideal for individuals with construction experience and a passion for low voltage electrical work. The position offers a chance to grow within the team and requires dedication to quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Install work area outlets for floor or wall by terminating CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks.
• Mount face plates and surface mount boxes accurately.
• Build and organize closets by mounting and installing backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware.
• Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cables as needed.
• Complete IDC connections, such as terminating 110/66 blocks and patch panels.
• Perform and troubleshoot continuity tests on horizontal and riser cables using volt-ohmmeters.
• Identify active voice or data circuits.
• Lead the crew for effective project performance, providing necessary training and coordinating personnel and timelines.
• Adhere to and participate in all quality and safety standards and regulations.

Essential Skills

• OSHA 10 certification
• Strong ability to pull and terminate copper cables (Cat 5, Cat 6)
• 2+ years experience in pulling fiber
• 2+ years experience in cable termination
• 2+ years experience using Versiv Two Tester or Fluke tester
• 2+ years experience in IDF uplinks and cable patching
• Experience in terminating keystone jacks and modular plugs (RJ45)

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Electrical or low voltage cabling is a plus.
• OSHA 10 / Lift Certification / Confined Space Certification.

Work Environment

The role is based in El Paso, requiring a commute from the parking lot to the Connex trailer. Work involves both indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to tight spaces, heights, and the use of scissor lifts and ladders. Employees must be comfortable walking long distances and carrying up to 50lbs. The dress code mandates steel toe boots and the use of PPE onsite, including safety vests, gloves, and glasses provided by the company. The work schedule consists of five 10-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, with potential Saturday work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of El Paso, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
