Responsibilities

  • Perform fusion splicing and connector terminations; use diagnostic tools to identify faults.
  • Support data center renovations and expansions; ensure safety compliance and documentation.
  • Collaborate with project leads and clients to ensure on-time, quality work.
  • Maintain accurate installation records and reports.

Role Description

The Low Voltage Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Charlotte, NC. This role involves installing, terminating, and testing low-voltage cabling, including fiber optic and structured cabling systems, in commercial and data center environments. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting network and electrical drawings, routing and labeling cables, performing fusion splicing and connector terminations, and using diagnostic tools to identify and resolve faults. The technician will work with project leads to support data center renovations and expansions, ensure compliance with safety standards, and maintain accurate documentation of installations and maintenance activities. Collaboration with other team members and clients is essential to ensure projects are completed on time and meet quality and performance expectations.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in electricity and basic electrical engineering principles relevant to low-voltage systems.
  • Experience with electrical maintenance and safe operation of electrical equipment in commercial or industrial settings.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for network cabling, fiber optic systems, and low-voltage infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in installing, terminating, and testing fiber optic and structured cabling (e.g., Cat6a and higher).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, floor plans, and installation specifications.
  • Comfort working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces, with adherence to safety protocols.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with project teams and clients.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in low-voltage, fiber optics, or related field is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites in and around Charlotte, NC.
