Job summary

BCS Consultants seeks a detail‑oriented Low Voltage Estimator/Designer in Irvine to develop accurate estimates and efficient system designs for commercial projects. You will review drawings, prepare BOMs, and coordinate with vendors to finalize proposals and pricing, ensuring alignment with installation requirements.

The role emphasizes translating customer needs into work scopes, materials, and cost estimates, with collaboration alongside project managers, field staff, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in low-voltage estimating, system design, engineering, or a related commercial technology integration role.
• Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and plans.
• Experience designing or laying out low-voltage systems.
• Experience with structured cabling, audiovisual, networking, security, access control, surveillance, or related systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate estimates for commercial low-voltage projects based on drawings, specs, site conditions, and customer requirements.
• Review architectural, electrical, technology, and construction drawings to identify requirements and challenges.
• Develop scopes of work, BOMs, proposals, and pricing for low-voltage projects.
• Design and lay out low-voltage systems based on project requirements and standards.
• Estimate labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and other project needs.
• Perform site surveys to gather field information and verify conditions.
• Interpret plans and bid documents to develop complete proposals.
• Coordinate with vendors for product information, pricing, and availability.
• Work with project managers and field techs to ensure practical, accurate estimates and designs.
• Identify scope gaps, conflicts, and project risks; assist with value engineering.
• Prepare clear proposals and supporting documentation for customers.
• Maintain accurate estimating and project documentation.
• Support transition from estimating/design to project execution.
• Stay current with low-voltage technologies, products, and industry practices.
