Job summary

MSS Solutions LLC in Charlotte or Raleigh seeks a Low Voltage Control Engineer to design building automation systems for large and complex facilities. You will create plans, schematics, load calculations and system narratives, and support field installation and commissioning.

The ideal candidate holds a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree with 1–3 years of experience; a PE license is a plus. AutoCAD experience and knowledge of HVAC equipment and controls are essential for success in this

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (1–3 years engineering experience is typical).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment and systems.
  • Hands-on HVAC controls experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create plans, schematics, equipment selections, load calculations, system narratives and specifications.
  • Design building automation systems for large and/or complex buildings.
  • Receive project specs from sales and design associated systems for installation.
  • Support field installation and commissioning of BAS/energy management/security systems per specs.
  • Prepare submittals and handoffs to operations; participate in initial site walk-through for retrofit assessments.
  • Provide support during debug and qualification of the system; prepare due diligence reports.
  • Review designs and programs for accuracy and feasibility; liaise with pre-construction team.
  • Follow safety rules and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Company.

Role and Responsibilities

Create plans schematics equipment selections load calculations systems narratives and specifications system design and layout field investigation and construction administrationDesign building automation systems for large andor complex buildings consisting of mechanical system layouts electrical drawings bill of materials sequence of operations valve and damper schedules DDC panel layouts to meet the intent of the project plans specifications and contract documentsReceive project specifications from sales team and designs associated system for installationPerform hardware and software designs develop sequence of operations establish bill of material determine network layouts develop electrical schematics as requiredSupport and assist the field installation and commissioning of building automationenergy management security andor fire detection and alarm systems in strict accordance with specifications and quality controlPrepares all required submittals and schedules subsequent hand off to operationsMay participate in initial job site walk through for assessment of current installations considered for retrofit or replacementProvides support during debug and qualification of the systemPrepare due diligence and feasibility reportsReviews designs andor programs for accuracy feasibility failure modes etcInterfaces with pre construction team as requiredFollows safety rules and keeps work area in clean and orderly conditionOther duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company

Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and one to three years of engineering experience; or an equivalent combination of education training and field experienceExcellent oral and written communication skillsWorking knowledge of AutoCADPosition requires experience in preparation of contract drawings and specifications field survey skills performing calculations and a thorough knowledge of building codes and standardsKnowledge of HVAC equipment and systems Hands on experience with HVAC equipment and HVAC controlsLicensed Professional EngineerPhysical Demands Constant sitting walking short distances bending stooping twisting reaching above andor below shoulder handlinggrasping documents or office equipment clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in person andor on the telephone vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data repetitive motions for computer equipment use lift 25 lbs occasionally 5 10 lbs frequently to liftcarrymove objects files and documentsMust successfully pass a background check & drug testWork Environment Work is performed in an office environment with air conditioning and bright lights
