Job summary

MetroPower in Columbus, GA seeks a Technician 1, Low Voltage to install, terminate, test and maintain voice, data, and fiber optic cabling for commercial projects. Reading blueprints, following safety and code standards, and troubleshooting are essential.

You will work with field teams to deliver reliable cabling systems, stay current on industry practices, and communicate professionally with customers and vendors. A HS diploma and cabling experience are preferred; BICSI certification is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • 5 years experience in structured cabling strongly preferred.
  • BICSI Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect work areas and complete Job Hazard Analysis to ensure a safe jobsite.
  • Review and plan daily tasks, equipment, and materials for efficiency.
  • Analyze blueprints and prepare for upcoming tasks.
  • Complete post-installation documentation, timesheets, and logs.
  • Run new cabling and conduit in buildings.
  • Terminate and test fiber optic cabling and data jacks.
  • Build and mount rack equipment (ladder racks, cable trays).
  • Troubleshoot issues to ensure system functionality.
  • Maintain structured cabling systems and assist in fiber deployment.
  • Operate vehicles, tools, and equipment as required.
