Job summary

The Vera Institute of Justice in Louisiana seeks a Program Associate to support local and state advocacy campaigns, manage program tasks, and liaise with internal communications, local media, and coalition partners in New Orleans. The role requires attendance at community meetings and building strong partnerships with local leaders.

You will draft materials, contribute to communications strategies, coordinate coalitions, and advocate to officials in public meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience with the criminal legal system, public safety policies and public health policies.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen existing partnerships with local organizations and assist coalition leadership in executing local, state campaigns for policy change.
• Develop agendas for coalition meetings, facilitate meetings, and provide notetaking.
• Draft memos, fact sheets, presentations, public comment/testimony and reports on criminal legal reform.
• Facilitate and manage working groups within the coalition-based work.
• Speak at conferences regarding Vera Louisiana’s work and related areas.
