Job summary

Vera Louisiana is seeking a Program Associate to support local and state advocacy campaigns, manage coalitions and coordinate communications. The role requires building partnerships with community leaders and drafting program materials to promote decarceration and safer communities.

The position reports to the New Orleans office on a hybrid schedule, with ~10 in-office days per month. Candidates with Louisiana criminal legal system knowledge and advocacy experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience or equivalent
• Experience with criminal legal system, public safety policies, and public health policies

Responsibilities

• Support local and state advocacy campaigns and manage coalition relationships
• Attend community meetings and liaise with internal communications, local media and coalition partners
• Draft program materials and contribute to communications strategies
• Coordinate cross-departmental work streams and track action items in meetings
