Job summary

Cornerstone Government Affairs is seeking Legislative Interns to support the Louisiana State Government Affairs team at the Louisiana Capitol during the 2027 Session. This paid, in-person internship offers hands-on exposure to state lobbying, stakeholder engagement, and policy issues in Louisiana.

Dates: March 15, 2027 through June 11, 2027 (flexible on actual start and end dates). Hours: 20–25 hours per week (part-time). Location: Louisiana office, Baton Rouge. Pay: $18.40 per hour.

Qualifications

• Third-year level student or higher in a bachelor's degree program; or graduate studies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Attend hearings or study committees and take detailed notes on legislation relevant to the team.
• Assist with creation and distribution of electronic and print information.
• Prepare state and local election lists of officials and candidates.
• Track and prepare general election reports for distribution.
• Assist with organizational needs such as delegation lists.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Cornerstone Government Affairs is looking for Intern Candidates to assist our Louisiana State Government Affairs team at the Louisiana Capitol during the 2027 Legislative Session. Interns will have the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in state lobbying efforts and gain knowledge of key stakeholders and issues of importance in the state of Louisiana.

Dates: March 15, 2027, through June 11, 2027 (flexible on actual start and end dates)

The ideal candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong organizational skills and high attention to detail. Candidates should have the ability to discern, identify and provide the appropriate level of information to stakeholders and hold a deep interest in politics and the legislative process. Exceptional candidates will have a proven track record of strong relationship‑building skills and be positive and proactive while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM OFFERINGS:

Cornerstone will reimburse parking and expenses incurred directly related to Cornerstone's business performance. Academic credit can be arranged upon agreement and documentation by the sponsoring institution.
