Job summary

JCPenney is seeking a focused Asset Protection professional to detect theft, conduct investigations, interview customers and contractors, and report suspected fraud to store leadership. The role involves collecting evidence, documenting cases, and traveling to designated stores as needed to protect company assets.

Required 18+ with 1+ years in retail/security or equivalent education; HS diploma or higher and preferred degrees in Criminal Justice or Business Management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; AA/BA/BS in Criminal Justice or Business Management preferred.
• 1+ years retail work experience/Asset Protection/Security or equivalent leadership experience/education preferred.
• Must be age 18+.

Responsibilities

• Observes activities to detect theft, fraud, or suspicious activity and collects investigative evidence.
• Executes required Company investigation routines to identify and resolve theft and documents all stages.
• Conducts external interviews with customers and contractors suspected of theft.
• Reports suspected fraud and policy infractions to AP and/or Store leadership.
• Creates records for reporting apprehension, witness statements, and disposition of recovered merchandise.
• Collects evidence and/or monitors associate activity as needed for investigations.
• Travels to stores as necessary.
• Analyzes intelligence on individuals involved in theft.
• Attends court hearings and updates files, maintains relationships with local law enforcement.
