Job summary

Agropur invites students to join its safety internship, collaborating with the Safety Manager and Plant Leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and safe operations in a dairy manufacturing setting.

You will gain hands-on experience in training, incident investigations, LOTO/JHA activities, and data analysis, while building relationships with plant teams and leadership.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s program in Occupational, Environmental Safety & Health; Industrial Technology; Engineering; or related field.
• Result-focused and motivated to exceed goals and deliver positive outcomes.
• Basic mechanical knowledge of motors, pumps, agitators, gears and drives.
• Basic computer skills including MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and field-specific software.

Responsibilities

• Work with Safety Manager and Plant Leadership to ensure plant compliance with rules and regulations.
• Support safe building and equipment upkeep.
• Model and train safe behavior for all employees.
• Learn safety program operations in a dairy manufacturing environment.
• Identify workplace safety hazards and suggest improvements.
• Assist with LOTO, Confined Space, and JHA activities.
• Help investigations of incidents and near-misses and corrective actions.
• Review/update safety procedures, policies, and training materials.
• Gather and analyze safety data to measure improvements.
• Collaborate with plant staff and safety committees on safety projects.
• Present projects and lessons learned at internship end.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Work closely with the Safety Manager and Plant Leadership team to ensure plant compliance with rules and regulations.
• Support safe building and equipment upkeep.
• Model and provide training on safe behavior for all employees.
• Learn how safety programs operate in a dairy manufacturing environment.
• Identify workplace safety hazards and recommend improvements.
• Support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) activities.
• Assist with incident and near-miss investigations and corrective actions.
• Review and update safety procedures, policies, and training materials.
• Gather and analyze safety data to measure improvement efforts.
• Collaborate with plant employees, Safety Committees, and other teams on safety projects.
• Present key projects and lessons learned at the end of the internship.
