Job summary

Agropur seeks an intern to collaborate with the Safety Manager and leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and safe operations in a dairy plant.

You will learn how safety programs operate, model safe behavior, identify hazards, and assist with investigations. This role offers real-world manufacturing experience and opportunities to contribute to meaningful safety projects.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s, Bachelor's, or Master’s program in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Results-driven with motivation to exceed goals.
• Basic mechanical knowledge of motors, pumps, agitators, gears, and drives.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook; ability to learn field-specific software.

Responsibilities

• Work with Safety Manager and Plant Leadership to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
• Support safe building and equipment upkeep.
• Model and train safe behavior for all employees.
• Learn how safety programs operate in a dairy manufacturing environment.
• Identify workplace safety hazards and recommend improvements.
• Support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) activities.
• Assist with incident and near-miss investigations and corrective actions.
• Review and update safety procedures, policies, and training materials.
• Gather and analyze safety data to measure improvement efforts.
• Collaborate with plant employees, Safety Committees, and other teams on safety projects.
• Present key projects and lessons learned at internship end.
