Job summary

Agropur seeks a Loss Prevention Intern at its Lake Norden, SD plant. You will work with the Safety Manager and leadership to support plant safety compliance, training, and equipment upkeep.

This paid internship offers real-world manufacturing experience and exposure to safety programs and incident investigations. You will help identify hazards, assist with LOTO and JHA tasks, and contribute to updating procedures and training.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an associate, bachelor’s or master’s program in safety-related field.
• Ability to motivate self and others to achieve goals.
• Basic mechanical knowledge of motors, pumps, agitators, gears and drives.
• Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) expected.

Responsibilities

• Learn safety programs in a dairy manufacturing environment.
• Identify workplace hazards and recommend improvements.
• Assist with LOTO, Confined Space, and JHA activities.
• Support incident and near-miss investigations and corrective actions.
• Review and update safety procedures, policies, and training materials.
• Gather and analyze safety data to measure improvement efforts.
• Work with plant employees and safety committees on projects.
• Present key projects and lessons learned at internship end.

As a Loss Prevention Intern, you will work closely with the Safety Manager and other members of the Plant Leadership team on various tasks and projects to help ensure plant compliance with all rules/regulations. The Loss Prevention Intern helps ensure safe building and equipment upkeep as well as modeling and providing training on safe behavior for all employees.

Location: Lake Norden, South Dakota location.
