Loss Control Inspector - Flexible Hours, 1099 Contract

Job summary

Underwriter Services Association is seeking inspectors to perform loss control inspections across insured properties. The role requires 2–4 years of field experience, a personal vehicle, and the ability to produce detailed loss control reports within a 14-day window.

You will access a portal to retrieve assignments, upload photos, and submit completed reports for QA. This is a 1099 contract position with flat-rate per inspection, not hourly.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience conducting inspections or relative experience.
• Must carry professional liability insurance.
• Must have a FEIN to provide on W9.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Outgoing personality with diverse interaction experience including policyholders and agents.
• Must write comprehensive loss control reports.
• Must be able to work flexible hours and days.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of MS Office products and inspection-related software.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, comprehensive loss control inspection reports.
• Schedule and conduct field or office-based loss control underwriting inspection reports.
• Use company portal to retrieve work, track status, upload photos, complete forms, and submit for QA review.
• Use personal car, laptop, camera, internet, phone, and measuring wheel for inspections.
• Communicate with insureds, agents, and contacts to complete inspections.
• Identify hazards and exposures during field surveys and write reports with recommendations.
