Job summary

The Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) is seeking a TC2 Loom Student Technician to support TC2 users and help maintain loom operations on campus.

Work with the Studio Manager, Fiber staff, and TC2 faculty to perform warp maintenance, assist with warp winding, and document weaving activity. This part-time student role requires strong communication and a current MICA student.

This position offers hands-on experience in weaving and access to studio facilities on campus.

Qualifications

• Current MICA student.
• Previous work experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Have floor loom weaving experience.
• Demonstrated practical understanding of responsible TC2 use and warp maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform a weekly checklist of equipment cleaning and maintenance.
• Document issues with the TC2, related tools, calendar, and staff in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate warp maintenance to students within weekly work hours.
• Assist with weekly warp cut-offs and tie-ons.
• Document woven yardage in a shared spreadsheet.
