Job summary

Mentor Exempted Village Schools in Mentor, Ohio seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist for a temporary assignment (Nov 2026 – Feb 2027). You will develop and implement direct intervention plans, provide diagnostic and evaluation services, and collaborate with educators to design appropriate evaluation techniques and instructional programs for students with special needs.

Qualifications

  • Valid certification or license to practice speech/language therapy as recognized by the Ohio Department of Education.
  • Experience in delivery of speech/language therapy services.
  • Experience in assessment and evaluation of students in need of speech/language services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement direct plan of intervention for students in need of special instruction in speech and language.
  • Provide diagnostic and evaluation services for students with special speech and language needs.
  • On-site collaboration with district/building personnel in designing evaluation techniques and instructional programs.
  • Provide consultation/technical assistance to school personnel and families; conduct in-service for staff, administrators, and parents.

Job description

*Anticipated duration: November 2026 - February 2027

Rates: Day 1-20 $150.00

Day 21 forward $175.00 for continuous assignment

Day 61 forward at Teacher's Salary Schedule.

Description:

Develop and implement a direct plan of intervention for students in need of special instruction in speech and language. Provide diagnostic and evaluation services for students with special speech and language needs. Conduct on-site with district/building personnel in the design of appropriate evaluation techniques and instructional programs for these students including the use of technology. Provide consultation/technical assistance to school personnel and families. Provide in-service, where applicable, to pertinent personnel, administrators, and parents regarding the education of students. Participate in external and internal task forces, committees or groups examining issues, services or programs for students with special needs. Identify, through appropriate screening procedures, students who need special instruction/intervention in speech and language.

Qualifications:

  1. Must have appropriate, valid certification or license to practice speech/language therapy as recognized by the Ohio Department of Education.
  2. Specific skills in delivery of speech/language therapy services.
  3. Specific skills and experience in assessment and evaluation of students in need of speech/language therapy and translation of results in individualized plans in collaboration with the educational team.
  4. Basic minimal skill in use of sign language or finger spelling.
  5. Possess a scholarly competence in the structure and content of special education programs in addition to related State and Federal policies, procedures, and laws.
