Muskingum Valley ESC School District is seeking a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to develop and implement individualized education plans for students with speech and language disorders. You will conduct evaluations, participate in parent conferences, and provide direct, indirect, and consultative services across school sites.
The role requires an Ohio license, a Master’s in speech pathology/audiology, and previous experience with children.
Under general supervision, constructs and implements individual education plans for students with speech and/or language disorders; conducts evaluations required to determine eligibility for services and to document student progress toward goals and objectives; participates in parent conferences to share information pertaining to student progress; and provides support to the staff.
Basic knowledge of board policies and procedures; thorough knowledge of individual educational plans, teaching techniques and strategies, local state and federal laws, rules and regulations regarding special education, and the concept of least restrictive environment
Written composition and technical writing, record keeping, planning and organization, student performance evaluation, diagnostic/prescriptive teaching, classroom management, classroom management, and public speaking
Ability to develop individual educational plans and collaborate with others to implement services; teach, including the organization of the learning environment; analyze curriculum; mobilize resources and use a variety of educational techniques; have a working knowledge of special education laws, rules and regulations; develop rapport with students, parents, primary care takers and co-workers; prepare reports; maintain records; and communicate effectively. Ability to design a sequential program of language skills leading to independence as an adult with objectives that encompass one or more occupational skills
Typical school technology as well as assistive technology (e.g., communication devices, etc.)
Dates of the work period will be stated in the employment contract
The Speech/Language Pathologist will be evaluated by the Director of Student Services or the Director of Early Childhood Programs or their designee in accordance with the procedures identified by law and including the standards established by the organization. The Speech/Language Pathologist will be given a copy of the evaluation instrument and standards in advance and he or she will be expected to conduct a self-evaluation and establish a minimum of one goal annually to advance knowledge, skill and/or ability in a job related area.
